I wrote two fics for Yuletide this year. They nearly didn't happen, because I was super stressed about grad school applications and the like, but I eventually got it together.

The Long Way 'Round for Brigdh. Pitch Perfect, Beca/Chloe.

Homecoming for dharmavati. Melina Marchetta's Lumatere Chronicles, Finnikin/Isaboe.

My gifts were great! My main gift was Pieces Missing, a lovely, sad post-s2 Dance Academy fic. But I also received two Yuletide Madness gifts: Pas de Deux (Dance Academy) and at practice (Snow White and the Huntsman).

I haven't read much in the archives yet, but I look forward to it!

comments

Dear Yuletide Author,

Hello, my new favorite person! You should know that I am very easy to please, and am pretty much guaranteed to love anything you come up with. If you can have fun with any of these prompts and write something you enjoy, then I'm sure I will love it.

( some details )

I hope that was informative!
On the one hand, I feel like I shouldn't post unless I have something interesting to say? But on the other, I feel weird and out of touch when I go too long in between posts. It's a quandary.

David Cook replied to me on Twitter, so let's not even pretend like that's not the highlight of my week. He asked for Twitter questions, I asked what his favorite song is to play on tour, he said "Rapid Eye Movement," the wedding's in June, you're all invited.

At some point last week I finished S2 of Downton Abbey, plus the Christmas special. ( a bit spoilery for US viewers )

I've been speeding through my Gilmore Girls rewatch, which is all well and good, except now we have hit the part in S6 where I want to smack both Lorelai and Rory upside the head and tell them to think about other people for once in their lives.

RL stuff: There's a promotion happening at work - not the promotion I mentioned a while ago, which rightfully went to the girl whose position is now open - and I think I am going to apply for it, but I'm already trying not to psych myself up for it. It's basically one step up from what I do now, so I know I could do it, but I don't know if I'll get it.

Also. I tripped and fell the other day, and I am obviously 90 years old and decrepit, because now I am sore all over and have a blinding headache. BLAH.

comments

This entry is, like, a particularly boring brand of word vomit. You have been warned!

I think I might have a cavity, and if so, I might feel the need to kick someone in the teeth. Just FYI. Granted, I haven’t been to the dentist in...7 years? 8? So I probably had it coming. And my insurance is supposed to kick in this month, so that’s something.

I did not do all that great with my January goals. ( January breakdown and February goals )

( RL musings about grad school and adventures in Craigslist )

WOW THAT WAS BORING, SORRY DUDES.

I restarted my Gilmore Girls rewatch, which leaves me feeling vaguely nostalgic most of the time. I associate seasons 3 and 4 really strongly with my time at OBU, since Katie and Renee and I used to watch/obsess over it together, and I was also pretty into the fandom, so I have a lot of memories there.

As for currently airing stuff, blah blah Shameless blah blah Parks & Rec blah blah THE GOOD WIFE IS AMAZING blah blah Nikita comes back on Friday, thank heavens.

I also watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo last night, and, man, thank goodness Dad and I didn’t go see that together. I still have not gotten over seeing Atonement with him in 2008.

comments
